The 2014 Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee (IAGOC) held a PR roadshow in New Delhi, India, on March 18.

In attendance at the event held at the Hyatt Regency Delhi were: Mr. Kim Young-soo, the president of IAGOC; Mr. Narayana Ramachandran, the president of the Indian Olympic Association; Mr. Jitendra Singh, the Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports of India; Mr. Raja Randhir Singh, the Secretary General of the Olympic Council of Asia; and around 100 guests from the government, sports, and the media.

At the roadshow, Mr. Sushil Kumar, a wrestler who was the 2010 World Champion and medalist at both 2008 and 2012 Olympics, and Ms. Deepika Kumari, an archer who is currently ranked No. 2 in the world, were appointed as the Goodwill Ambassadors in India for the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.  The IAGOC also donated grants to the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Foundation and the Markandeshwar Hockey Center, in order to support these sports in India.

President Kim also visited the Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi, where flame for the Torch of the 2014 Asian Games will be lighted on August 6.  The Stadium was the venue of the first Asian Games in 1951, and from 2014 on, it will be the venue of the lighting of the Torch flame of all future Asian Games.

President Kim said in his remarks, “It is very special to hold the 2014 Asian Games PR roadshow in New Delhi, the home of the very first Asian Games.  On behalf of the Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee, I would like to extend gratitude to the Indian Olympic Association for helping us organize this roadshow.  We at the Organizing Committee will do our utmost to make the 2014 Asian Games an occasion for all Asians to come together for peace and harmony in our continent.”

President Ramachandran remarked, “The Indian Olympic Association will do our best to provide support and assistance to contribute to the success of the Incheon Asian Games.”

The New Delhi event followed the five PR Roadshows that were held last year, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan; Dubai, the UAE; Singapore; Hanoi, Vietnam; and Guangzhou, China.
