Five venues for the 17th Asian Games Incheon 2014 will be built in the Sudokwon (Seoul capital region) landfill site which is located in the western part of Incheon Metropolitan City.

Incheon Metropolitan City briefed on its construction of venue plans such as equestrian, golf, acquatics, canoe/kayak, rowing and shooting (clay) as neighboring Seoul Metropolitan City agreed to accept Incheon’s venue construction plans.

Sudokwon(Seoul capital region) landfill site is one of the biggest landfill in the world, where 25,000 metric tons of garbage are being dumped every day.

This initiative do matches the Host city’s planning direction for the Games, highlighting the transformation of derelict land into dynamic sport park as well as making Asian Games an eco-friendly event.

Last January, Korean National Tourism Organization and Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corporation agreed to develop this landfill site into a theme park, where tourist can enjoy ecology and eco-friendliness. With this in mind, Incheon’s initiative will have synergy effect if five Asian Games venues are completed.

Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee (IAGOC) released Smart phone application for Games promotion last January. This application includes games overview, sport information, gallery, etc. and can be freely downloaded at App store.
