  • General interest
    • Highlights : Syria's first participation in the Asian Games was in 1978, when weightlifter Talal Nagar won gold in the men's 100kg category. Four years later he triumphed in the +110kg division, and he remains the only Syrian athlete to have won multiple gold medals.

      In 2006 Syria won its first gold medal for 12 years, when Ahed Joughili triumphed in the 105kg men's weightlifting category.

      In 2010, Syria's sole gold medal was won by boxer Mohammad Ghosson in the men's heavyweight division.
