  • General interest
    • Highlights : Vietnam won its first gold medal in 1958, but had to wait 36 years to win its next gold medal. Taekwondo athlete Quang Ha Tran triumphed in 1994.

      Sepaktakraw has been a successful sport for Vietnam, and its women have been particularly strong. Vietnam's women's sepaktakraw teams finished with three medals in three consecutive Asian Games between 1998 and 2006, including gold in both the team and doubles event in 2006. In 2010 the Vietnamese women won a silver in regu and bronze in the team. Thi Thanh Luu was a mainstay in the team, and she collected 11 medals between 1998 and 2010.

      Four years ago, Vietnam finished with one gold medal. Karateka Phuong Le Bich triumphed in the women's -55kg kumite.
