NOC Profile

  • General interest
    • Highlights : Kuwait won its first gold medal at the 1982 Asian Games, when Nadia Al-Mutawa won gold in the individual equestrian jumping competition.

Kuwait's most successful edition of the Asian Games was in 2006, when it won 13 medals, including six gold. The most notable victory in Doha was the men's handball team, who bounced back from final defeats in 1998 and 2002 to win the gold medal, thanks to a victory against hosts Qatar.

Athletes from Kuwait competed under the Olympic flag at the 2010 Asian Games because the country's Olympic Committee was suspended by the International Olympic Committee [IOC] at the time. At the Games, Kuwaiti athletes won one gold, one silver and one bronze.
