NOC Profile

  • General interest
    • Highlights : Indonesia is one of only six countries to have competed in every edition of the Asian Games.

The Indonesian capital Jakarta hosted the Games in 1962, and it remains the only edition of the Games where Indonesia has reached double figures in gold medals. The star of the show that year was badminton player Minarni, who won gold in the women's singles, women's double and the team event. She remains the female Indonesian athlete with the most total medals won in Asian Games history.

Another badminton player, Christian Hadinata, is the most successful male Indonesian at the Asian Games, with five gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

Indonesia's medal hopes will be hurt at the removal of dragon boat from the Asian Games programme for 2014, as they won all the men's events and grabbed silver in all the women's events in Guangzhou four years ago.
