General
COPING WITH PRESSURE
He admits that playing in front of a big Korean crowd at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, Korea, could provide more of a distraction than a boost. "It would be more tense and somewhat burdensome playing in front of many Korean spectators." However his coach has put measures in place to help him cope with the pressure. "We have a group of personnel for [his] psychological and mental support. After conducting mental exercises, we were able to relieve [his] stress." (Asiad Daily, 19 Sep 2014)

SUSPENSION AND REINSTATEMENT
He and doubles partner Kim Ki Jung were suspended for one year by the Badminton World Federation [BWF] in January 2014 after the pair failed to update their whereabouts on the website of the World Anti-Doping Association [WADA]. In April 2014 a BWF Doping Hearing Panel found that the players were not responsible for the failure to communicate their whereabouts, as this had been the responsibility of the Korean Badminton Association. The players' suspensions were therefore overturned. (badzine.net, 15 Apr 2014)

ATHLETE REPRESANTATIVE
He was voted into the Badminton World Federation Athletes' Commission for a four-year term in 2010. (newsway.kr, 02 Nov 2010)

AMBASSADOR
He has been named an honorary ambassador for many campaigns including Fair Election, Seoul Sports Day and School Violence Prevention Movement between 2008 and 2013.
