NATIONAL FIRST
He and partner Kim Jong became the first DPR Korean table tennis players to win the mixed doubles event at the world championships when they won the gold medal in Paris, France, in 2013. (ITTF, 18 May 2013)

UNITED TEAM
In November 2011 he was a member of the first team in 20 years to consist of players from both Korea and DPR Korea at a table tennis tournament. He partnered Korean player Ryu Seung-Min in the men's doubles at the 2011 Peace and Sport Cup in Doha, Qatar. They went on to win the gold medal.
