OLYMPIC CONTROVERSY
He was disqualified during the second round of his bout against Cuba's Jose Larduet Gomez at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The decision came after he received three warnings for holding over a period of 56 seconds from German referee Frank Scharmach. Mazaheri claimed he would have won at least bronze had it not been for the official, although the Iran team did not appeal.
