OLYMPIC DISAPPOINTMENT
He entered the 2012 Olympic Games in London as the reigning world champion, but he had to retire during his semifinal match because of a leg injury. He left the arena in a wheelchair and was unable to compete in the bronze medal match. He returned to international competition at the 2013 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, where he successfully defended his title. He admitted that during his recovery he had thought about retiring. "I came to these championships to become world champion, but also to erase the bitter Olympic memories.
