Injuries He tore muscles in his left knee in 2009, and took one month to recover. However, he injured his right knee in June the following year and missed the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China. Over time the injury deteriorated and he needed to have an operation on his right knee, but postponed it for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. DISQUALIFICATIONS
He was disqualified from the race walk at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, Japan, due to an official's mistake. Although he still had one more lap on the course to complete, he was directed into the stadium by the referee, and reached the finish line in fifth place. As a result he was disqualified, with the organising committee acknowledging the mistake and apologising to him and the Japanese team.
