He has been interested in boxing since he saw a boxing match on television when he was in elementary school. However, there was no opportunity for him to take up the sport as a young boy, so he did kendo [a Japanese martial art] until he found a boxing gym near his high school. (joc.or.jp, 01 Apr 2008)
