FRONT POSITION
Although he is one of the strongest paddlers on his K4 team, his position is at the front of the canoe. The more powerful canoe athletes usually sit at the back. "Bill has a strong sense of rhythm, so even though he's the strongest paddler of the team, we decided to experiment with him in front. So far, it has worked out well," coach Balazs Babella said. CAREER BREAKS
He had to take a two-and-a-half year break from canoeing while he completed his national service, which is required of all Singaporean men. He took another break in 2011 to focus more on coaching. (scf.org.sg, 01 Jul 2013)
